The 3rd Edition of the Encyclopaedia of the Modern British Army begins with "a brief survey of changes within the Army, and its campaigns, since 1945 ... goes on to examine in depth its organisation and role today, with sections on each of its various Corps, on BAOR and on the Army in Northern Ireland....The end result is a comprehensive analysis of an Army which, although no longer one of the largest in the World, is unquestionably one of the best."
