This page details the Characteristics of the FV 13101 Truck, Cargo, Dropside, 4T, GS, 4x4, Bedford RL. The vehicle is:

"A 4 wheel drive adaptation of the 7 tonne commercial chassis which has been modified to meet service requirements for a 4 tonne vehicle. The body is designed for the carriage of personnel in addition to general cargo. Body sides and tailboard can be dropped or removed."

 Seating.   Wooden sets may be fitted to facilitate the carriage of personnel. They are arranged along the sides of the cargo bed, the troops sitting inwards facing, a characteristic which was modified on the M Series in light of operational experience.

 Cupola   A Cupola is fitted to the cab roof allowing a soldier to be posted as an air sentry. No provision is made for weapons to be fitted to this position.

Cargo Area Cover   A series of hoops is provided to support the canvas tarpaulin cover for the cargo area. The height of the tarpaulin may be varied to two positions - the hoops are lowered to their low setting for air transportation. Stowage is provided for both tarpaulin and superstructure when not in use.
