The Royal Navy Landing Ship, HMS BULWARK, arrived at Hamburg's Ueberseebruecke at 10 am on 14 March 2008. She is visiting the Hansa Stadt enroute to her home port of Devonport after taking part in Exercise Armatura Borealis 08 off Norway. She will slip for home on Monday at 10 am . HMS BULWARK is currently the Fleet Amphibious Flagship and High Readiness Assault Ship. The Commander of the Amphibious Task Group is currently Commodore Phil Jones. The Amphibious Task Group, of which BULWARK was a part consisted of at least:
"Captain Jeremy Blunden, the Commanding Officer of HMS Bulwark , said: "We'd normally be called a Landing Ship but in fact we're so much more than that. In fact we're a bit like a small town; I've not only a church, restaurant, 600 bed hotel at my disposal but also an airfield and mobile marina! "We're an asset that's available at five days' notice to deploy worldwide," he added." |
